Monday August 31 is the first day of school! We can't wait to greet our new and returning Lions. Here are 5 things for you to know as we head into the new school year:
1. Doors open at 8:00 am. Students need to know their 1A teacher and room number- we will have printed schedules provided for them in their 1A class. Good learning starts with students being present and on time to learn.
2. Students should bring school supplies with them; students will organize materials and use lockers in order to ensure that phones and bookbags are secured throughout the instructional day. (Don't worry- they will have lots of time next week to practice using locks!)
3. Breakfast and lunch is once again provided to students at no charge. Breakfast is grab and go upon entering the building.
4. DMS and BCPS cell phone/ device policy is in effect beginning day 1- no phones, headphones or tablets should be visible or used during the instructional school day.
5. Transportation sometimes is delayed on the first few days; we will do our best to keep you informed when we hear from the Office of Transportation. If you do drop off your student, please remember that the bus loop will be closed to cars from 7:45-8:15 to accommodate our buses. If you drive your student to school, please pull to the side on Dumbarton Road (do not block the crosswalk) and drop your student off.
