Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year, the next chapter in your child’s educational story. The first day of school for all students is Monday, August 31, an A day.
Your student’s schedule is posted to the Focus portal and transportation information will be posted there prior to the beginning of the school year. If you need to create your Focus account or forgot your password, you can find help here: https://baltimore.focusschoolsoftware.com/focus/auth/

- Want to meet our administrative team (or just say hello again)? We will be hosting “Get the Scoop” at The Charmery, 6807 York Road, on Wednesday August 26 from 12:00-2:00 PM. We’d love to meet (or catch up with) you and your students! The Charmery will be giving 10 percent of ice cream sales back to DMS to help support our quarterly Roar Rallies. - If you are the parent of a sixth grader, we hope that your child will be attending sixth grade orientation on Thursday, August 27 from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM. 6th Grade Orientation is only for students; parents will have an opportunity to meet teachers on Back-to-School night. We will also be hosting tours for students in grades 7 and 8 who are new to Dumbarton at 2:00 PM.
- Please join us for our Back-to-School night on Wednesday, September 2 from 5:30-8:00 PM where you can follow your child’s schedule, see their classrooms and meet their teachers.
Our story just keeps getting better- our students showed the highest gains in Math testing in BCPS. Attendance rates continue to improve, and climate and culture ratings show what we know- our students, families and teachers love being part of our Dumbarton pride. We are still letting our motto guide us: Work hard. Be kind. Show pride. Our building is almost ready, and we are so grateful to our building services crew and for the generous support of the Towson Recreation Council for funding the refinishing of our gym floor. It looks amazing!

Your student should be getting a special welcome back postcard in the mail with information for you and them. We can’t wait to see our students begin to write our next chapter here at Dumbarton Middle School. Enjoy these last few weeks of summer!
